Terms of Use & Disclaimers

By downloading or using AuroraChaser you agree to these terms. Please read the safety and forecast disclaimers carefully - chasing the aurora means being outdoors, at night, in the Arctic.

No guarantee of aurora

AuroraChaser provides forecasts and probabilities, not certainties. The aurora is a natural phenomenon driven by the sun, and even a perfect score cannot promise a display. We make no warranty that the aurora will be visible at any time or place, and we are not responsible for trips, costs or plans made on the basis of a forecast.

Your safety is your responsibility

Aurora viewing in Northern Norway involves real risk. You are solely responsible for your own safety and for the choices you make. Please take it seriously:

  • Dress for extreme cold and check the weather before heading out; conditions change fast.
  • Drive carefully on icy, unlit roads and never stop where it is unsafe; pull fully off the road.
  • Make yourself visible near roads: wear a reflector and carry a headlamp - in polar-night darkness drivers cannot see you without one.
  • Tell someone where you are going, and be aware that many spots have no mobile coverage.
  • Stay off frozen lakes, rivers and sea ice, keep clear of avalanche-prone slopes in winter (check the official warnings at varsom.no), and keep a safe distance from cliffs and open water.
  • Respect private land, fences, reindeer herding areas and local guidance.
  • Be wildlife-aware. On Svalbard, polar bears are a genuine danger and local rules apply outside settlements.
  • In an emergency in Norway call 112 (police), 113 (medical) or 110 (fire).

Community content

Some features let you submit content, such as aurora sightings, photos, chase-group posts and a display name. You are responsible for what you submit; keep it lawful, accurate and respectful of others and of private land. Do not upload content you have no right to share. We may remove content or restrict access where it breaks these terms or the law.

Partner placements

The app may show clearly marked "Partner" promotions, served by us on behalf of local partners. A partner placement is not an endorsement, and we are not a party to - and accept no liability for - any purchase or booking you make with a partner. External links open the partner's own website, which has its own terms and privacy policy.
